The BCH Virtual Library

Through its virtual library, the Biosafety Clearing-House provides access to different categories of information aimed to assist countries in capacity-building for implementation of the Protocol. The library provides access to the following collections:

Collections with special focus on biosafety

	The Biosafety Information Resource Centre (BCH-BIRC) is managed by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) and provides access to electronic catalogues of biosafety-related publications and information resources including: news services; e-mail list-servers; online databases and search engines; reports and case studies; journals and newsletters; and teaching materials (manuals, toolkits and presentations). 	The Scientific Bibliographic Database on Biosafety (Bibliosafety) provides access to a bibliographic collection of scientific studies relevant to biosafety and risk assessment of biotechnology featuring records from CAB ABSTRACT database and maintained by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). This searchable database is updated monthly and contains records of scientific articles (full reference + abstract) published in national and international scientific periodicals from 1990 onwards. Collections with focus on health, agriculture or environment

	Research4Life is the collective name for four public-private partnerships (HINARI, AGORA, OARE, ARDI and GOALI) which provide institutions from eligible developing countries with free or low cost online access to academic and professional peer-reviewed content.



managed by WHO and Yale University Library, Hinari focuses on medicine, nursing and related health and social sciences	managed by FAO and Cornell University Library, Agora focuses on agriculture, fisheries, food, nutrition, veterinary science and related sciences	managed by UNEP and Yale University Library, Oare focuses on natural environment, including environmental toxicology, pollution and related sciences	coordinated by WIPO together with its partners, Ardi focuses on scholarly literature in technical fields, such as biotechnology, medical technology and computing.	managed by ILO together with its academic partners Cornell Law School Library and the Lillian Goldman Law Library at Yale Law School, Goali focuses on legal research and training in the developing world.
